Cindy Sheehan on the cult of ‘troop worship”

As the mother of a soldier who died in Iraq defending Standard Oil, Halliburton, KBR, and, etc, I see the dead as victims, mostly. Victims of capitalism, US imperialism, greed, power hungry assholes, and, yes I am going to say it: the illegal state of Israel. The only people who call them “heroes” are the ones profiting off their deaths, or the people who want to perpetuate US violence against the world and this is not saying that some of them did not do some brave things: I have heard from more than one person at Casey’s death that he refused to go on the mission that killed him, but was forced to. It’s my opinion that we need to subvert this cult of troop worship like we do the cops. I miss Casey who led a good life and went in the military to help his family be relieved of the burden of his university costs—which is another insidious way they get their recruits. Dying for someone else’s profit is tragic.
